Lecture by G.K. Omarov: Museum Archaeology and Methods for Studying Archaeological Heritage

As part of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) No. 17 "Partnerships for the Goals," staff members of the Abish Kekilbayev Mangystau Regional Museum of History and Local Lore are undergoing scientific internships and professional development at the Department of Archaeology, Ethnology, and Museology of the Faculty of History at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.
During the internship, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor G.K. Omarov delivered a lecture on "Museum Archaeology: The Importance of Implementing Archaeological Research Projects Based on Museums, Practical Archaeology, and Methods for Studying Archaeological Heritage."
The lecture discussed key methods for preserving archaeological heritage, integrating it into scientific research, and utilizing it in museum practices. G.K. Omarov emphasized the inclusion of archaeological artifacts in museum exhibitions, effective ways of presenting them to the public, and the importance of applying research findings in museum contexts. Additionally, approaches to preserving and systematizing materials obtained from archaeological excavations were highlighted.
This lecture provided internship participants with new insights into the interconnectedness of archaeology and museum work and helped them develop skills in protecting and studying archaeological artifacts.
