New opportunities in the field of chemical science were discussed at KazNU

The XII International Beremzhanov Congress on Chemistry and Chemical Technology has started at the al-Farabi Kazakh National University.
The largest international forum has become a good tradition, annually bringing together chemical scientists from all over the world, experts and young researchers, as well as representatives from business and industry. In total, more than 250 participants registered at the congress.
The event was opened by Erkin Duisenov, Deputy Chairman of the Board and Acting First Vice-Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. In his speech, he highlighted the special importance of chemical science for the country's development.
"The President of Kazakhstan, K.K. Tokayev, frequently and appropriately emphasizes the necessity of developing chemical science, which has served as the foundation for the industrial and economic development of our country for decades. Al-Farabi Kazakh National University has created all conditions for conducting advanced research, including in the field of chemistry. Thus, in June 2024, a modern Farabi Chem Science cluster was opened at the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology, including 9 modern laboratories equipped with advanced equipment. Applied chemistry paves the way for the creation of new materials, technologies, and solutions for sustainable development", - emphasized Erkin Germanovich.
The head of the Chemical Industry Department of the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Azamat Kalen, congratulated the participants on this significant event and said: "As a graduate of this alma-mater, I am very pleased to participate in today's event. It is impossible to imagine production and the chemical industry without qualified personnel, which is why the Ministry of Industry is always ready to support Al-Farabi Kazakh National University in training strong and knowledgeable specialists".
In his welcoming letter, the President of the Kazakhstan-American Free University, Erezhep Mambetkaziev, called the congress a good tradition for preserving the continuity of generations. "Today, modern Kazakhstan confidently enters the business, civilized world. A significant contribution to the education and science of the independent republic is made by the graduates of KazNU. I am ready to organize the next chemistry forum at the Kazakhstan-American Free University in the future", - the letter stated.
The Chairman of the Kazakh Chemical Society named after B.A.Beremzhanov, academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and one of the initiators of the forum Mukhambetkali Burkitbayev, speaking at the opening of the plenary session, noted: "Today's forum is a reflection of the level that our chemical science, education, and industry have reached at this point in time. Also, we must work out certain solutions and define the tasks facing science, education, and industry in order to fully exploit the potential of the country's inexhaustible raw material resources".
At the plenary session, reports were also made by: scientific director of the RSE "Institute of Combustion Problems", and the initiator of the Beremzhanov Congress, Zulkhair Mansurov, Vice-Provost for Interaction with Industry of Nazarbayev University Zhumabay Bakenov, and a representative of the Higher National School of Chemistry in Rennes (ENSCR) Sylvain Giraudet.
This year, the organizers enriched the program with a panel discussion «Training Specialists for the Chemical Industry» and a series of workshops: «Industry and University», «Commercialization of research: turning science into business», «Artificial intelligence and digital technologies in chemistry and chemical technology», «Challenges of teaching chemistry: new strategies», «New trends in the pharmaceutical industry». The event also includes a job fair and an exhibition of manufacturing companies.
The forum was organized by: Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Atyrau University of Oil and Gas named after S.Utebayev, NGO "Kazakhstan Chemical Society named after B.A.Beremzhanov", Association of Chemical Industry KAZCHEMISTRY, and the Association of Producers and Consumers of petrochemical products (Petrochemical Association).
