Recently, an event titled "Legal Principles of Combating Corruption in the National Legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan" was held in the small hall of the Faculty of International Relations, dedicated to the International Anti-Corruption Day.
The International Anti-Corruption Day, proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly in 2004, is observed annually on December 9. This day is celebrated by the entire global community.
The event was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of International Relations, Zhuldyz Talgatovna Sairambaeva, as well as faculty members and students of the Faculty of International Relations. The organizers of the event, Professor of the Department of International Law Karimzhan Nurumovich Shakirov and Associate Professor of the Department Maksut Koshekovich Samaldykov, shared with the students and guests the negative impact of corruption on all aspects of society, which threatens socio-economic development and undermines democratic institutions and the rule of law. They also spoke about significant legislative amendments aimed at further improving domestic anti-corruption legislation. The students present actively participated in the discussion and asked questions of interest to them.
The Al-Farabi Library organized a thematic book exhibition for the event, where students and guests of the event explored scholarly works that discuss the entire system of state bodies responsible for law enforcement activities and ensuring the protection of human rights and freedoms.
The exhibition displayed works by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, as well as scholarly works by faculty members Samaldykov M.K. and Shakirov K.N. The exhibited books provided foundational information about the judicial system of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the principles of its organization and functioning, as well as other law enforcement agencies, including the judiciary and the prosecutor's office. International legal standards of law enforcement activities were also presented.
