Educational work has its own specific features when it comes to working with foreign citizens studying in Kazakhstan, in particular at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. On the one hand, educational work is an independent area of work for teachers. On the other hand, it is educational work that contributes to the realization of the principle of parallel language acquisition and understanding of the multinational culture of Kazakhstan. Thus, the process of educational work is continuous and organically integrated into the daily activities of a teacher working with foreign students. In the process of teaching all academic disciplines included in the training program for foreign students, painstaking work on social adaptation is organically woven into the outline of the educational material. It is social adaptation in completely new realities for students that is the main goal of the educational work carried out at the Department of Language and General Education Training of Foreigners at the Faculty of Pre-university Education.
In 2010, student interest clubs were established at the department and are currently successfully operating. These are the Music Club "Көңілді әндер", the Theater Club "Melpomene", the Local History club "Саяхат", the Club of Intercultural Communication "Тілмен таным", the Sports Club "Health", the Film Club "Let's go to the cinema!". The names of the interest clubs speak for themselves. The clubs' work plans include meetings where various issues are discussed: the cultural life of the southern capital of Kazakhstan, historical and modern sights of our country, sports events of various scales, where Kazakhstanis distinguished themselves... The teachers, the heads of the clubs, actively work with the students during the school year. Their activities result in performances at festive events, participation not only in university, but also in city and even republican interuniversity events. In addition, a significant result of the clubs' work is that students from different countries come closer and become friends.
Each teacher of the department is clearly aware that the creation of a positive image of the Republic of Kazakhstan and, of course, the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University depends on his daily work. The principles of tolerance, transparency, respect for traditions, and confidence-building in the domestic and foreign policy of our country have been repeatedly voiced by President Tokayev. A foreign citizen, while staying at the university, observes firsthand that these principles work in our country, not in words, but in practice. It is no exaggeration to say that graduates of the department subsequently become friends of the faculty and maintain communication with teachers, warmly recalling the years of study.
