The 80th anniversary of the United Nations and the discussion of the Sustainable Development Goals

Yesterday, an important meeting of the directors of the Academic regional Resource Center for UN Information L. Delovarova, the Heads of UNESCO Departments on Sustainable Development T.A. Bazarbayeva, UNESCO Chair of Journalism and Communication O.J. Oshanova, Director of the Ban Ki-moon Institute for Sustainable Development L.K. Mukhtar  with the representative of the UN Department of Global Communications in Kazakhstan Vlastimil Samek took place in the Almaty office of UN Plaza.

This meeting is organized against the backdrop of a significant date - the 80th anniversary of the United Nations, which is celebrated in 2025. This anniversary highlights the importance of multilateral cooperation and collective efforts in the field of sustainable development, particularly in education and social change.

The meeting participants discussed strategic areas of cooperation, exchanged ideas on the implementation of projects that will help raise awareness and involvement of students and the public in sustainable development issues. Special attention was paid to the importance of integrating practical solutions to combat climate change and social inequality.

Vlastimil Samek noted the importance of cooperation between KazNU and the UN in achieving the goals set. As a result of the discussion, an agreement was reached on the joint development and implementation of a number of initiatives that will contribute to the promotion of sustainable development in the region.
