A Successful Meeting with the "Visit Shymkent" Delegation Held at KazNU, Followed by the Signing of a Cooperation Agreement

On January 30, 2025, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (KazNU) hosted a successful meeting with the delegation of the "Visit Shymkent" Tourist Information Center under the Department of Tourism and External Relations of Shymkent. As part of the event, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed, and a leadership lecture was delivered for students and faculty members of the Department of Recreational Geography and Tourism.

The "Visit Shymkent" delegation was led by the head of the center, Erlan Sundikovich Umarov. Other members of the delegation included Arailim Abilda, Head of the Events Department, Ayazhan Eshtaeva, Manager of the Design and Information Department, and qualified tour guide Erzhan Orynbasar.

KazNU was represented by Vice Chairman of the Board – First Vice-Rector of the University, Erkin Ermanovich Duysenov. The event was also attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Geography and Environmental Management, Aliya Sagyndykovna Aktymbayeva, Head of the Department of Recreational Geography and Tourism, Ruslan Muratovich Baiburiyev.

The meeting began with a visit to the KazNU museum, followed by discussions in the university’s conference hall on the development of cooperation in the field of tourism and recreation. Participants exchanged views on potential joint projects and explored opportunities for strengthening academic and professional ties.

A key highlight of the event was a visit to the KazNU library, where materials were presented to faculty members and students of the Faculty of Geography and Environmental Management. Additionally, a leadership lecture was held to enhance the professional competencies of future tourism specialists, where the main moderator was a PhD student of the Department of Recreational Geography and Tourism – Suranchieva El-Dana Amanzholkyzy.

This event marked an important step in strengthening the partnership between KazNU and the "Visit Shymkent" Tourist Information Center, opening new prospects for cooperation in the fields of tourism, recreation, and academic exchange.
