On January 31, 2025, the Department of the Far East(Korean Studies) of the Faculty of Oriental Studies of Al-Farabi KazNU held an award ceremony for the winners of the Korean language essay competition. This event is the result of the competition held on December 4, 2024 with the financial support of Sookmyung Women's University (Korea). Practical cooperation activities are actively carried out between Kazakh National University and Sookmyung Women's University. From 2020 to the present, Department of the Far East has been conducting an online Korean language course (E-School Course) with the support of Sookmyung Women's University. In addition, Sookmyung Women's University provides grants to two students of the Department of the Far East and the opportunity to study at Sookmyung Women's University every semester, and also regularly holds a seminar to improve the qualifications of the Department's teachers. Conversely, the Department of the Far East also hosts Korean language trainees from Sookmyung Women's University every year. A total of five students were selected as winners of the essay competition, each of whom received a certificate and a prize. Professor Kim Kyungryung from Sookmyung Women's University, who is in charge of the online Korean language course, attended the award ceremony and personally presented the winners with certificates and prizes. After the award ceremony, a meeting was held with professor Kim Kyungryung about the development and continuation of the Korean language course (E-School Course). Cooperation with foreign universities is an important factor not only for the Department but also for the students. We hope that our cooperation with Sookmyung Women's University will become stronger, and we congratulate the winners of the competition.
