The best scientists and teachers of 2024 were awarded at KazNU

A ceremony was held at Al-Farabi KazNU to award the holders of the titles "Best University Teacher of 2024" and "Best Researcher"
The ceremonial event was attended by: the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Sayasat Nurbek, the Chairman of the Board – Rector of Al-Farabi KazNU, Zhanseit Tuimebayev, heads of research institutes and universities, as well as prominent scientists and educators of Kazakhstan.
The title "Best University Teacher" has been traditionally awarded since 2005 to individuals for their outstanding achievements in teaching and research activities.
The Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Sayasat Nurbek, spoke at the opening of the ceremony. He congratulated all the winning educators and thanked them for their immense contributions to science and education.
Among the best teachers are Zukhra Abdiahmetova, Madi Abilev, Gulnar Aigarionova, Dina Akbayeva, Zhanna Asipova, Gulzira Vasilina, Syrim Kasenov, Kurmali Kurmanov, Amirkhan Temirbayev, Raikhan Rakhmettolaeva, Nurlan Temirbekov, Bakhyt Khaniev, Saule Orsbaeva, and others.
At the event, the Chairman of the Board – Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Zhanseit Tuimebayev, delivered a congratulatory speech. The Rector highlighted the significant achievements of the educators and their contribution to the development of education and science.
The badge of "Best University Educator of 2024" was awarded to 200 educators from Kazakhstan, including 36 teachers from Al-Farabi KazNU. Each winner will receive a cash award of 2,000 MRP (Monthly calculation index).
Among them is the Head of the Department of Thermophysics and Technical Physics at the Faculty of Physics and Technology of KazNU, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor Saltanat Bolgenova, who scored the highest in the "Best University Educator 2024" competition. "I have been working at Al-Farabi KazNU for over 35 years, and this is the third time I have been awarded the title of 'Best University Teacher.' I believe that every achievement of mine is, first and foremost, the knowledge and experience I have gained from my mentors at KazNU, as well as the support of our university in the implementation of scientific research goals", - said Professor S. Bolgenova. Over the past 35 years, the educator has received 15 patents, published 10 monographs, 45 textbooks, and nearly 400 scientific publications.
The "Best Researcher of 2024" nomination was awarded to 41 individuals. The prestigious award was also given to educators from Al-Farabi KazNU: Habibulla Abdullin, Nuraly Akimbekov, Natalia Glushkova, and Rima Dzansaraeva.
During the ceremonial event, the Honorary Certificate of the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan was also presented to Gulsim Seilkhanovna Suleimenova, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Foreign Philology and Translation Studies at the Faculty of Philology of Al-Farabi KazNU, for her diligent work towards prosperity and significant contribution to the development of education and science. The educator has been teaching not only English at the university for 57 years but also participates in high-level meetings as a simultaneous interpreter.
As part of the event, a tour of the KazNU campus was organized for the winners. The guests visited the university’s scientific laboratories and centers, including the "Farabi Hub" Innovation Products and High-Tech Projects Center, the Earth Remote Sensing Center, and the Robotics Center. They were also introduced to the work of the country’s most powerful supercomputer, which is installed at KazNU.
