Social protection and support for children in crisis situations

24 february, 2025

On February 24, 2025, in accordance with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 1, SDG 3, SDG 4, SDG 10, SDG 16), doctoral students and students of the Department of Sociology and Social Work at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University visited the Center for Child Support in Difficult Life Situations in Almaty. The event was organized in line with the university’s anti-discrimination and anti-harassment policy, aiming to foster an inclusive and safe environment for all participants.

The initiative was led by doctoral students of the "Sociology" educational program, Gulzhanat Sagidulla, and the "Social Work" program, Saltanat Nusupbayeva and Ayagoz Aubakirova, under the guidance of Acting Associate Professor A. B. Shabdenova and Senior Lecturer A. Masimbaeva.

The event was attended by second-year students of the "Social Work" program and third-year students of the "Sociology" program.

During the visit, participants familiarized themselves with the Center's activities, explored its approaches to social support for children in difficult life circumstances, and actively engaged in its work. The students organized interactive games for the children, aimed at developing their communication skills and providing emotional support. A warm and friendly atmosphere allowed the children to open up, feel cared for, and receive much-needed attention.

This event not only contributed to the development of practical skills among future specialists but also strengthened their sense of social responsibility and deepened their understanding of the importance of working with children in need of special support and care.
