A conference on the study of Shokanology and Attilology was held

An international scientific and practical conference titled "The Personality of Attila in World Literature and Culture" was held at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. The conference was dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the renowned historian, Spanish language specialist, and professor at the University of Madrid (Spain), Samat Koshenovich Uteniazov.
The event was attended by Professor Orhan Soylemes from Kastamonu University, Turkey, Professor Makhanbet Zhusupov from the Uzbek State University of World Languages, Professor Doolotbek Saparaliyev from Bishkek State University, as well as scholars, faculty members, and students of KazNU.
At the opening of the conference, a congratulatory letter from the Chairman of the Board – Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Zhanseit Tuimebayev, was read out, addressed to the anniversary celebrant.
The congratulatory letter read: "Dear Samat Koshenovich! You have reached this milestone with significant achievements as a candidate of historical sciences, an outstanding historian, and a scholar of social sciences. You have conducted fundamental research in the fields of Shokanology and Attilology, published textbooks and teaching manuals. Having studied the culture and history of Spanish-speaking peoples, you translated works of Spanish literature into the Kazakh language. The university is always proud of the achievements of its scholars"
Professor Samat Uteniazov graduated from the Romance-Germanic Philology Faculty of the State University named after Mechnikov in Odessa. He worked productively at the Sh. Ualikhanov Institute of History, Archaeology, and Ethnology, as a correspondent for the London-based journal Central Asia News File focusing on Central Asia and Kazakhstan, and contributed to the development of international journalism. He also taught Spanish at the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and worked as a translator and consultant at the Cuban Embassy in Kazakhstan.
He also lectured on Spanish and Latin at the Kazakh Academic University, the Ablyai Khan University of International Languages, and the Kazakh-American University. Today, he shares his experience with the students at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.
At the meeting with reports on the works and historical research of Samat Koshenovich, the following individuals spoke: Vice-President of the National Academy of Natural Sciences of Kazakhstan Erengaip Omaruly, Professor Bolat Komekov, Rector of S. Baishiev University in the city of Aktobe Akhan Bekezhan, and others.
During the conference, a book exhibition titled "Attila – 1625" was presented, along with the books by Samat Koshenuly: "Abulkhair Khan", "Sh. Ualikhanov – Traveler-Researcher" and "Attıla ve Avrasya Tarihindeki Yeri".
The conference continued with thematic sessions.
