28 february, 2025

On 27-28 February 2025, the “Petrogames 2025” Olympiad was held, organised by “LUKOIL Lubricants Central Asia” in collaboration with the Department of Physical Chemistry, Catalysis and Petrochemistry. The competition brought together 39 students from Kazakhstan's leading universities: the Kazakh-British Technical University (KBTU), K. Zhubanov Aktobe Regional University, Satbayev University, and Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (KazNU).

The Olympiad was not only a rigorous challenge for future professionals but also an excellent opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge and skills in petrochemistry. The competition stages covered a wide range of tasks requiring both theoretical preparation and practical expertise.

During the breaks between competitions, participants visited the laboratories of the Department of Physical Chemistry, Catalysis and Petrochemistry, where a guided tour was organised for them. Students became acquainted with modern laboratories, scientific research, and career prospects in the petrochemical industry.

The Olympiad’s prize fund motivated participants to achieve outstanding results. The winners were awarded cash prizes:
1st place - 120,000 tenge, 2nd place - 80,000 tenge, 3rd place - 60,000 tenge, 4th place - 40,000 tenge, 5th place - 20,000 tenge.

“Petrogames – 2025” was not only a competition but also an important platform for strengthening professional connections, exchanging knowledge, and exploring career opportunities in the petrochemical industry. The Olympiad reaffirmed the high level of student preparation and their commitment to development in one of the key fields of science and industry.
