For 30 years now, the Republic of Kazakhstan has been celebrating the Gratitude Day holiday, dedicated to the day of the formation of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan. On February 28, on the eve of this holiday, the Farabi HUB of the Kazakh National University named after Al-Farabi hosted an award ceremony for employees of the Department of Biodiversity and Bioresources of the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology. Among them, Irina Maratovna Zharkova, a candidate of biological sciences, was awarded the highest medal "Eren Enbegi Ushin" ("For Labor Distinction"). She is a senior lecturer of the department and a leading histologist of Kazakhstan, who has been engaged in scientific research for many years and shares her knowledge and skills with students and her followers.
At the moment, I.M. Zharkova is leading a project to study the reactivity of the most important organ systems of commercial fish species under the anthropogenic impact of the Ile-Balkhash basin. This project is of great practical importance for the development of aquaculture in our country. In addition to teaching and research activities, she holds the honorary position of Deputy Head of the Department for Scientific and Innovative Work and International Relations.
Zharkova I.M. is a highly qualified specialist who is interested in promoting biological science in Kazakhstan, as well as strengthening international ties with leading universities and institutes around the world.
