The “Bauyrsak Party” was held on the eve of the Nauryz celebration

Within the framework of “SDG 17th -Partnerships for the Goals”  on March 17, 2025, at the dormitory of the HSEB of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, the “Bauyrsak Party” was organized. The event coincided with the great holiday of Nauryz and the holy month of Ramadan, as well as the iftar time.

Nauryz is a celebration of spring, renewal, and prosperity. During this time, various national dishes are prepared and served to guests. One of the most popular traditional Kazakh foods, especially during celebrations and festive events, is bauyrsak – deep-fried dough pieces.

Bauyrsak symbolizes abundance and prosperity. There is a humorous Kazakh saying: “A guest who has eaten bauyrsak never wants to leave the feast”. It highlights essential role of this food in Kazakh hospitality.
