Environmental initiative at NeoCarbon

On March 14, 2025, fourth-year students and faculty members of the Department of Analytical, Colloid Chemistry and Technology of Rare Elements of the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University visited the "NeoCarbon" company in the Bakanas village as part of their industrial internship. The primary goal of the visit was to become acquainted with advanced technologies for processing agricultural waste—specifically, the transformation of rice husk into a carbon-silicon composite widely used in energy and environmental applications.
During the factory tour, students observed the technological processes firsthand, asked questions to engineers and experts, and discussed potential applications of the materials produced. Such visits enhance students’ professional development while fostering sustainable thinking and encouraging innovative approaches to global challenges.
A key part of the visit was an environmental cleanup activity. Students participated in a community workday, cleaning the area around the factory, collecting and sorting waste for recycling. This initiative promotes environmental awareness among youth and businesses alike and supports the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) No. 15: "Life on Land."
