A Clean-Up Day for Campus Improvement and Environmental Sustainability at the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics

On March 16, 2025, a clean-up day was held at the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (KazNU), aimed at maintaining environmental cleanliness and enhancing the appearance of the campus. The event saw active participation from faculty members, administrative staff, and students. The main goal of the clean-up was to improve the department's territory, creating a comfortable and eco-friendly environment for studying and working. Participants focused on collecting trash, clearing the area of unnecessary items and waste, and enhancing the exterior appearance of the facades and surrounding green spaces. Thanks to the joint efforts of faculty members, students, and staff, the territory was put in order, and the campus became significantly more tidy and attractive. All activities were conducted with a focus on environmental cleanliness and sustainability at the university.

The Dean of the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics, Nursultan Doszhan, noted that such events help improve the conditions for studying and working, as well as foster a sense of responsibility among students and staff for maintaining cleanliness and a favorable atmosphere on campus. "Maintaining environmental cleanliness and improving the appearance of the faculty are essential parts of our work, and such clean-up days play a significant role in this," he said.

The event was not only a great example of teamwork but also an important step towards creating a cleaner and more pleasant environment for everyone working and studying at the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics at KazNU.

The clean-up day is directly related to SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, and SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production, as improving the campus’s appearance and creating an eco-friendly environment contributes to the development of sustainable and safe areas for studying and working, in line with SDG 11. Additionally, trash collection and environmental care support the principles of responsible consumption and waste management, aligning with SDG 12.
