History of Islam in Central Asia: New Methodologies and Unexplored Issues

On March 20, 2025, at 12:30 PM, a scientific event was held at the Faculty of Philosophy and Political Science of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University as part of the pedagogical practice of doctoral students. The lecture, titled “History of Islam in Central Asia: New Methodologies and Unexplored Issues,” was delivered by Dr. Asylbek Izbairov, Doctor of Philosophy and Professor of the Department of Religious Studies at Nur-Mubarak Egyptian University of Islamic Culture.
The event was organized by first-year doctoral students Alimkhanova A. and Nurgaliev B. The scientific session was held under the academic supervision of Dr. N. Zh. Baitenova, Professor; Associate Professor Zh. O. Kantarbayeva, PhD; and Dr. K. M. Borbasova, Professor and Head of Pedagogical Practice.
The lecture attracted a wide audience, including students, faculty members, and researchers interested in the history and contemporary development of Islam in Central Asia. Professor Izbairov introduced new methodological approaches to the study of Islamic history and highlighted several lesser-explored aspects of the topic. During the event, participants had the opportunity to ask questions and discuss pressing issues in Islamic studies.
This event was organized in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in the area of quality education, emphasizing its contribution to the development of scientific potential and academic discourse in the field of religious studies.
