Nauryz - holiday of spring and goodness

March 19, on the eve of the beautiful holiday “Nauryz” within the framework of CSD 16 in groups of foreign students of the Department of Language and General Education Training of the Faculty of Pre-University Education of KazNU named after Al-Farabi held an educational event “Nauryz - holiday of spring and goodness”. Curators of groups Aitpayeva A.S. and Yakubaeva K.S. introduced students from China and Korea with the history and traditions of the holiday. Students learned that this holiday is celebrated on the day of equinox on March 21-22 in many Asian nations for more than five thousand years. At the event they talked about the fact that this holiday symbolizes the arrival of spring, fertility, respect for elders, kindness to people, friendship and love. The students were interested in how they prepare for Nauryz in our country: they put their houses and streets in order, what they wear, what traditional dishes they cook. The dish “Nauryz-kozhe” was especially discussed. Students expressed their desire to try it. At the event it was said that during the holiday people often go to visit and receive guests at rich tables. The curators told what aksakals usually wish to the young. The students expressed what wishes, in their opinion, are said during such a holiday. Interesting information for foreign students was that according to the traditions of Kazakh people Nauryz is celebrated during the whole month. At the end of the event, the participants were photographed and wished everyone peace and good luck in the New year.
