5 march, 2025

On March 5, 2025, doctoral and master's students from the Department of General and Applied Psychology at the Faculty of Philosophy and Political Science held an educational event on "The Psychology of Stress Resilience". The event was organized in accordance with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal "Good Health and Well-Being."

The organizers of the event were PhD first-year doctoral students of the Department of General and Applied Psychology at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University M. D. Kasymova and E. B. Ibraуеmova, first-year master's student of the "Psychology" program (7M03125) Bakhbergen E., as well as Professor of the Department of General and Applied Psychology, Doctor of Psychological Sciences S. K. Berdibayeva, and Associate Professor E. K. Kalymbetova.

The invited guest speaker was Tolganay Darkhanqyzy, an investigator from the Investigation Department of the Karasay District Police Department of the Almaty Region Police Department. She shared her professional experience and discussed the psychological aspects of working in the law enforcement system, as well as ways to maintain emotional stability in challenging situations.

The profession of a police officer is among the most stressful. Every day, police officers face extreme situations, make complex decisions, and interact with various individuals, including law offenders. The hazardous nature of their work significantly impacts their psychological well-being.

During the meeting, students learned about how the work of an investigator affects psychological well-being, what strategies help cope with stress, and how to maintain a balance between work and personal life. The dialogue was insightful and beneficial: participants asked questions of interest and received practical advice.

Additionally, students engaged in various psychological exercises, breathing techniques, and relaxation practices. Alongside its practical significance, the event included a theoretical segment that explored different perspectives on the concept of stress.

The concluding remarks were given to students, guests, organizers, and Professor Sveta Kydyrbekovna. At the end of the event, participants were treated to sweets, took group photos, and expressed gratitude to each other.

Such initiatives contribute to raising awareness about the importance of mental health and help young people gain a deeper understanding of the professional challenges associated with law enforcement careers.
