SDG-4: Honoring our national traditions at the university

17 march, 2025

The Al-Farabi Kazakh National University "Sunkar" Students' and Graduates' Union's "Farab" readers' club and the library staff jointly organized an event on March 17, dedicated to the "Day of Culture and National Traditions". During the event, the goal of glorifying our precious heritage, which reminds us of the rich culture and national values of the Kazakh people and is passed down from generation to generation, was realized. On this occasion, special attention was paid to one of the most sacred traditions of our people - the betashar ceremony.
Betashar is one of the important traditions of the Kazakh people. It symbolizes the bride's step into a new life, the union of two families. The moment the bride's face is revealed and her headscarf is put on, a new stage in her life begins. Through this tradition, the Kazakh people demonstrate their moral and spiritual values, preserve the history and customs of the nation.
This event brought students together, encouraged them to unite, and helped to increase their organization.
It is our main duty not to forget our national traditions and customs and to pass them on to future generations!
