Current Issues of Religious Studies Education in Kazakhstan: Discussion Platform

On April 3, 2025, a discussion platform on the topic "Current Issues of Religious Studies Education in Kazakhstan" took place at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University as part of the IV International Al-Farabi Forum, organized by the Department of Religious Studies and Cultural Studies of the Faculty of Philosophy, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals "Quality Education" and "Partnership for Sustainable Development."

The organizers of the event were the heads of the Department of Religious Studies and Cultural Studies: Doctor of Philosophy, Professor K.M. Borbassova, PhD in Philosophy D.S. Utebaeva, and PhD in Philosophy U.A. Tungatova. The speakers at the forum included PhD student in Islamic Studies Rustem Moldakhmetov, as well as master’s students in Religious Studies Aruzhan Amanzholova and Ayazhan Saylaubai, who shared their thoughts on the discussed topics. The event was also attended by first-year students of the Faculty of Religious Studies.

The participants discussed the socio-psychological aspects of religious education. The results of the discussion platform became an important step in the development of religious studies education and the achievement of sustainable development goals. This event became an important initiative for raising religious literacy among the youth of Kazakhstan and fostering tolerance.
