On April 2, 2025, the first-year master's degree student in «Applied Kazakh Linguistics», Zhanargul Smagulova, held an open seminar on the topic: «Kazakh National Ornament. Professional Vocabulary» for first-year students majoring in «6B05203 - Hydrology». Under the guidance of Candidate of Philological Sciences and Associate Professor of the A. Baitursynov Department of Kazakh Linguistics, K.T. Mukhamadi, the event aimed to acquaint students with the cultural heritage of the Kazakh people – the richness of national ornaments.
This seminar provided a unique opportunity to delve into the roots of Kazakh culture. Students explored fascinating insights into the history, application, and symbolic significance of Kazakh ornaments. Video materials, discussions, and writing assignments not only enhanced participants’ listening and writing skills but also fostered a deeper understanding of the intricate connection between national art and culture.
A highlight of the seminar was the work with Kazakh proverbs and sayings, enriching students' vocabulary and supporting a greater grasp of professional terminology. Of particular interest was the hands-on session, where participants were supplied with materials to create their own patterns. This creative approach allowed students to immerse themselves in the ancient art of ornamentation, discovering traditional designs in a fresh and modern light.
In the seminar's conclusion, participants summarized their newfound knowledge, shared impressions, and received recognition for their active engagement. The most proactive students were awarded memorable prizes.
National heritage is not merely a relic of the past but a foundation for building a forward-looking generation. Initiatives like this seminar emphasize the importance of preserving spiritual wealth through educational programs. They inspire young people to value and study their homeland's culture, fostering not only professional growth but also profound personal enrichment. After all, national culture is the golden treasury of a nation, carrying the strength and identity of every generation.
This initiative showcased the enduring significance of cultural preservation, ensuring that traditions continue to inspire and empower future leaders of Kazakhstan.
