The Role of Nanotechnology in Achieving Sustainable Development Goals

3 april, 2025

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) serve as a call to action aimed at improving well-being and protecting our planet.

In early March 2025, as part of pedagogical practice, doctoral students from the Department of Chemical Physics and Materials Science specializing in “8D07113 – Nanomaterials and Nanotechnology in Chemistry” and “8D07103 – Chemical Technology of Explosives and Pyrotechnic Products” conducted an educational event for third-year students on the topic “The Role of Nanotechnology in Achieving Sustainable Development Goals.”

In their presentation, the doctoral students introduced various effective ways to utilize nanotechnology in mitigating negative environmental impacts.

The students were divided into four groups to discuss the environmental issues of different cities in Kazakhstan (Almaty, Öskemen, Atyrau, Aral). They examined pollution problems and proposed their own solutions for improving the environmental conditions of these cities.

The discussion was held in a competitive format, and the best teams were awarded prizes.

Such events contribute to increasing youth engagement and interest in solving the environmental challenges of our country. This initiative aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals outlined in the “Rukhani Zhangyru” program at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.
