On March 28, 2025, the Faculty of International Relations at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University hosted a debate among first-year Master’s students majoring in International Relations.
The topic of discussion was: "Strengthening the Means of Implementation and Revitalizing the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development."
The event was held within the framework of Sustainable Development Goal 17 – "Partnerships for the Goals," which plays a key role in coordinating the efforts of governments, international organizations, the private sector, and civil society. Only through strong global partnerships can the other UN Sustainable Development Goals be effectively achieved.
Such events are of particular importance at Al-Farabi KazNU, which serves as a regional UN hub, promoting awareness of sustainable development and engaging youth in global processes.
The event was organized by the Director of the Center for Eurasian Studies, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor G.A. Movkebayeva, and first-year PhD student D.A. Yurlova. During the debate, two teams presented opposing views on the issue and discussed the effectiveness of existing mechanisms of global partnership for sustainable development.
The debates showcased the high level of student preparation, their ability to analyze complex international issues, and to defend their viewpoints. Participants highlighted the importance of such events in developing critical thinking and professional skills.
