The development of artificial intelligence will accelerate

Chairman of the Board-Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Zhanseit Tuimebayev held a meeting with university faculty members as part of the "Science Week".

The meeting discussed measures to promote and digitalize university science, including the development of artificial intelligence. The head of the university noted that currently all industries are developing with the help of artificial intelligence technologies.

"Artificial intelligence technologies are developing rapidly today. We must contribute to the development of the domestic IT sector, taking into account its security. The most powerful supercomputer in Central Asia has been installed at the al-Farabi Kazakh National University. It not only simplifies the work of scientists, but also accelerates the results. A high-tech device collects data and provides a computing solution.

The performance of the supercomputer is 2000 teraflops, and KazNU scientists need to consider proposals for the development of artificial intelligence using the capacities of this supercomputer", - Zhanseit Tuimebayev said.

In his speech, the rector of the university also raised the issue of sending university teachers and scientists for internships abroad to master artificial intelligence technologies.

In addition, Zhanseit Tuimebayev proposed to create a faculty of artificial intelligence on the basis of KazNU. This, in turn, will increase the number of qualified specialists in this field, train young people in Kazakhstan without traveling abroad, and prevent cybersecurity using artificial intelligence.

Following the meeting, the head of the university instructed the responsible specialists to create a special working group to implement these recommendations and approve the work plan.
