Conference hall of Korean studies opened in KazNU

The opening ceremony of the SFG Hall of Korean Studies was held at the Faculty of Oriental Studies of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University with the sponsorship of Shinhan Financial Group.
The project is aimed at supporting education and research activities in the field of Korean studies, and is the result of a long-term partnership between KazNU and "Shinhan Financial Group".
Sabit Suatai, Member of the Board, Vice Rector for Social Development of Al–Farabi Kazakh National University, and Mr. Jin Ok Dong, Chairman of Shinhan Financial Group, spoke at the opening ceremony, congratulating the faculty on a significant event. They stressed that this initiative is an important step in strengthening cultural and academic ties between Kazakhstan and Korea.
The event was also attended by the faculty of the Department of the Far East, students, as well as representatives of major financial organizations in South Korea.
As part of the ceremony, Shinhan Financial Group awarded scholarships to the best students of the Department of the Far East. In addition, Mr. Jin Ok Dong held an informal meeting with the students and answered their questions.
The new SFG Korean Studies Conference hall is fully equipped with modern multimedia equipment. This creates ample opportunities for students and teachers to study the Korean language and culture and receive education in a modern format. The university management noted that this project will contribute to improving the quality of education, as well as expanding the opportunities for students to complete international internships.
It should be noted that cooperation in the field of education with "Shinhan Financial Group" continues successfully. The annual scholarships established by the company for students of the Department of Korean Studies of the Department of the Far East contribute to the growth of interest in learning, make a significant contribution to the development of Korean science in Kazakhstan and the formation of a positive image of the Republic of Korea. Since 2010, about 100 students have received scholarships ranging from 200 to 300 USD.
In addition, the company's representative office in Kazakhstan, Shinhan Bank Kazakhstan JSC, has become an effective platform for future Korean historians to gain practical experience. Since the beginning of the partnership, KazNU students have been doing practical training at this bank, combining theoretical knowledge with practice. In recent years, the number of students who have completed internships and subsequently found a job at the bank has been increasing. Currently, 15 graduates of the Department of Korean Studies work at "Shinhan Bank Kazakhstan" JSC in various positions.
