On April 9, 2025, researchers from the Scientific Research Center "Written Monuments and Spiritual Heritage" delivered a lecture at the scientific seminar titled "Written Monuments of Medicine among Medieval Turkic Peoples" at the S.D. Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University.

The seminar was organized in collaboration with the Scientific Research Center " Written Monuments and Spiritual Heritage" of the Faculty of Oriental Studies at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, the RSE "Gylym Ordasy", the "Heritage of Eastern Manuscripts" laboratory of Abai Labs at Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University, and the Department of "History of Kazakhstan and Socio-Humanitarian Disciplines" of S.D. Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University. The event was attended by students and faculty members from the field of medicine.
The lecture was organized with the aim of acquainting medical professionals and students with the results of the research project “Persian Monuments of Medieval Turkic Medicine: Tansuq-name Ilkhani, Asrar al-atibba”, implemented within the framework of grant funding for scientific and scientific-technical projects of the Science Committee of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2023–2025.
The director of the Scientific Research Center Written Monuments and Spiritual Heritage, Professor Zubaida Shadkam, in her presentation titled “Types of Steppe Treatments in Medical Treatises in the Chagatai Language”, analyzed various treatment methods found in medieval medical treatises written in Chagatai. She discussed their place and specific applications within traditional medicine, providing a detailed account of the medicinal practices of Turkic peoples and emphasizing the effectiveness of healing herbs and methods characteristic of medieval culture.
Orientalist-historian, PhD Ömir Orazuly Tuyakbaev, in his presentation, provided a comprehensive overview of the medical heritage of the Turkic peoples, thoroughly analyzing the issues of the use, preservation, and systematization of medieval medical treatises and written sources in contemporary scientific research.
Turkologist, PhD Nazym Nurgeldievna Kayranbaeva gave an engaging presentation on the types of medicinal herbs used in the folk medicine of the Turkic peoples, the history of their use based on medieval medical writings, as well as various methods of preparing medicinal remedies.
The seminar participants were deeply interested in the written monuments of medieval Turkic folk medicine, the uniqueness of steppe medicine, and the ancient medical knowledge and healing practices of the Turkic peoples.
Head of the Department of the History of Kazakhstan and Social and Humanitarian Disciplines, Associate Professor Zauresh Nagaibayeva, Associate Professor Saule Ualiyeva, and other faculty members and guests expressed their gratitude for the valuable lectures, emphasizing that they revealed the ancient roots of domestic medicine, the continuity of folk traditions, and the contribution of various cultures and civilizations to the development of medical knowledge, as conducted by the Scientific Research Center “Written Monuments and Spiritual Heritage”.
