Farabi Forum: new opportunities for young scientists

The closing ceremony of the IV International Farabi Forum was held at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, where the results of the annual large-scale event were summed up.
The ceremony began with the presentation of an exhibition of the best student innovation projects. The exhibition includes the best works from various fields of science by talented young scientists of KazNU: "Wireless mesh networks on UAVs for emergency situations", "Development and assembly of a frequency converter for controlling electric motors", "Development of a cream with antioxidant properties from domestic plant raw materials", "Neutrotraining for non-invasive correction of psychoemotional state and improvement of cognitive functions" and others.
The solemn ceremony was opened by Chairman of the Board – Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Zhanseit Tuimebayev, congratulating those present on the Day of Science Workers. He noted that since receiving the status of a research university, KazNU has been actively working on the integration of education and science.
"The IV International Farabi Forum is aimed at stimulating young scientists and supporting new startups. Thanks to government support, university science is developing and financial grants are being allocated to new projects. Young scientists especially feel the care of the President of the country. 14 young KazNU scientists received apartment keys on behalf of Kassym-Jomart Kemelevich Tokayev and became homeowners.
In 2024, the scientists of the educational institution implemented 402 research projects. In 2021, university scientists won scientific projects totaling 2,782.1 billion tenge. In 2024, this figure increased by 13 billion tenge. As a result, the income amounted to 252.53 million tenge, which opened up opportunities for increasing scientific potential. During the year, about 30 laboratories were opened on the basis of KazNU and were transferred for the benefit of scientists", - said the rector.
During the forum, students from all regions of the country exchanged experiences with foreign young scientists. Over the course of several days, various scientific discussions were held at scientific and practical conferences and round tables within the framework of the forum. The competition "The best young scientist of KazNU" and the competition of innovative projects and student business incubators were held.
Talshyn Sarsenbayeva, a young scientist, deputy head of the Department of Artificial Intelligence and BigData, thanked the university administration for the support of young scientists, said: "The Farabi Forum has become a good tradition of our university. Thanks to the forum, young researchers receive a powerful motivation for scientific research and a desire to work for the benefit and prosperity of the country"
The event continued with an award ceremony for the faculty and researchers of KazNU, the winners of the competition "The best young scientist of KazNU", the winners of the prizes of the international scientific conference of students and young scientists "Farabi Alemi" and the winners of the competition of the best student innovation projects.
The winners of the contests received certificates and cash prizes. The total prize fund of the forum amounted to 5 million tenge.
