The XVII Republican Olympiad in Oriental Studies among students of Chinese was held at KazNU

On April 23, the Faculty of Oriental Studies at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University hosted the 17th Republican Subject Olympiad in the specialty Oriental Studies (Chinese language track), under the educational program “6B02207 – Oriental Studies.” The event was organized by the Department of Chinese Studies.

Twenty students from leading universities in Kazakhstan participated in the Olympiad, representing Al-Farabi KazNU, Ablai Khan KazUIRWL, and L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University.

The first round consisted of a 100-question test on the Chinese language and area studies. Based on the results, eight students with the highest scores advanced to the second round. In this round, participants presented their projects on the topic “Kazakhstan and the PRC: Prospects for Mutual Cooperation.”

The participants were evaluated by a qualified panel of judges chaired by Ms. Huang Xiaomin, Education Consul of the Consulate General of the PRC in Almaty. The Olympiad concluded with the announcement of the winners and prize recipients, who demonstrated a high level of knowledge and strong interest in current issues of Kazakhstan–China relations. The competition committee has decided to nominate the following candidates for awards:

Dilnaz Adaykankyzy Adaykhan is a 2nd-year student of the specialty “6B02209 – Oriental Studies” at the Faculty of International Relations, Department of Oriental Studies, L. N. 1. Alina Aleksandrovna Shilova is a 3rd-year student of the specialty “6B02207 – Oriental Studies” at the Faculty of Oriental Studies, Department of Chinese Studies, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. 1. Saken Akhanuly Yermahan is a 3rd-year student of the specialty “6B02207 – Oriental Studies” at the Faculty of Oriental Studies, Department of Chinese Studies, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.
