Republican Youth Convention "Library in the Flow of Time and Space"

On April 23, 2025, the Republican Youth Convention "Library in the Flow of Time and Space" was held in honor of the 115th anniversary of the National Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the 80th anniversary of the Honored Worker of Kazakhstan Roza Amangalievna Berdigalieva, and within the framework of the National Book Day – April 23.

The purpose is to deeply study the spiritual, social, and technological harmony in the modern library world. In particular, to reveal the role of libraries as a social mission in ensuring accessibility and inclusion, that is, to define their significance as a space that provides everyone – regardless of age and status – with free access to knowledge and culture. In addition, to consider ways to establish a new bridge between the reader and information by introducing the capabilities of artificial intelligence, which is at the forefront of technological progress, into the library sphere. To propose modern transformed solutions based on the traditions of the professional school formed by the outstanding figure of Kazakh librarianship Roza Amangalievna. That is, while preserving the values of the deeply rooted pedagogical school, to enrich it with new content that meets the requirements of the current generation.

The event became an important platform for discussing contemporary issues and the future of the library industry. Within the framework of the Republican Youth Convention, discussions were held on the topics: "The Social Mission of Libraries: Accessibility and Inclusion," "Opportunities of Artificial Intelligence for Libraries: Technological Progress," and "Library School: Tradition and Transformation." Participants of the Republican Youth Convention emphasized that the library is a socially significant institution and should become an open, equally accessible information and cultural space for everyone. In addition, the issues of implementing the principles of inclusivity, creating comfortable conditions for readers with disabilities, and introducing artificial intelligence into library services were widely discussed.

Using the example of the "Librarian School" formed by Roza Amangalievna, professional traditions and modern transformation processes were considered. Young specialists, drawing on her experience, emphasized the need to form an image of a librarian who meets modern requirements, is comprehensively developed, and masters new technologies. In general, the Republican Youth Convention demonstrated the activity of young people in the modernization of the library industry and opened up opportunities for the development of the industry in social, technological, and professional directions.

The Republican Youth Convention, which brought together young librarians and students from all regions of Kazakhstan, opened with a report "A Life Dedicated to the Library" dedicated to the 80th anniversary of R.A. Berdigalieva, and continued with the thematic session "Project Time," where participants presented their projects.

21 projects were presented. Among them, the project of the 2nd-year students of the specialty "6B03205-Library Information Systems" of the Faculty of History, Department of World History, Historiography and Source Studies of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Mekenbay Alua and Akylbekkyzy Anel, on the topic "Smart Book Advisor - An Intelligent System for Individual Book Selection," supervised by the senior lecturer of the department, Candidate of Historical Sciences Asanova Bayan Suleimenovna, was defended with high results.

Each participant presented a project that would make a significant contribution to increasing the importance of the modern library. Further, the participants were divided into groups and familiarized themselves with the use of ACAJ in the A.P. Chekhov Central City Library, book digitization services in the S. Begalin Central City Children's Library, and book restoration services and experiences in Ғылым ордасы (Academy of Sciences).

In conclusion, new ideas and concrete proposals were developed at the Republican Youth Convention, and ways for their implementation in the future were identified.
