KazNU opens Center for Digital Technologies of Philology

The grand opening of the Dukenbai Doszhan Scientific and Creative Center for Digital Philology took place at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University as part of the XV Bagizbayev Readings.

Dukenbaya Doszhan is a laureate of the State Prize of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the National Prize named after M.Auezov, a talented writer who masterfully embodied the reality of his time.

This center will introduce creative youth to talented people working in this field, introduce them to the world literary environment thanks to the latest technological advances.

The opening ceremony of the center was attended by statesman, Colonel General, Halyk Kaharman Sat Tokpakbayev, writer, Honored Worker of Kazakhstan, winner of the International "Alash" Award Saule Doszhan and others.

Within the framework of the event, a presentation of an animated film based on the novel by writer Saule Doszhan "The Millionaire from the village" with the help of AI took place.

The Bagizbaev readings continued within the framework of the international round table "Topical issues of Digital Philology: Present and Future".

Bayan Zholdasbekova, Doctor of Philology, Professor, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Dean of the Faculty of Philology of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, spoke at the meeting.

"In the modern humanitarian space, great attention is paid to digital technologies for studying the rich scientific heritage of our luminaries of philological science. The formation of a scientific folklore school, the development of unexplored problems of regional folklore, current problems of world and Russian literature – this is the orbit of academic M.Bagizbayeva's scientific interests. We are deeply convinced that the rich creative and scientific heritage of the scientist is in demand by modern researchers", - Bayan Zholdasbekova noted.

Kazakh and foreign scientists presented reports on topical topics: Oksana Alexandrova, PhD, Head of the Department of General and Russian Linguistics at the Patrice Lumumba RFUR University, Doctor of Philology, Professor Vladimir Denisenkov, PhD, Associate Professor, Deputy Dean for Research at the Faculty of Philology at the Patrice Lumumba RFUR University, Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation at KazNPU Abai Yertai Sultan, Doctor of Philology, Professor of KazNU, writer, translator Aslan Zhaksylykov, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor of KazNU, Corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences Saule Begalieva and others.

The participants discussed current issues, trends, and directions in the development of digital philology and the principles of using artificial intelligence technologies in the humanities.

The event was organized by the philological faculties of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and Patrice Lumumba Peoples' Friendship University of Russia.
