Summer School on the Silk Road and Kazakh Culture Has Started

On May 5, 2025, the Department of Chinese Studies at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University launched an online Summer School titled "The Great Silk Road and Kazakhstan: History, Culture, and Interconnection." The program includes participation from 30 students of Nanjing Normal University (PRC).

The curriculum covers topics related to the history of the Silk Road, Kazakh spiritual beliefs, national traditions, cuisine, clothing, and traditional games. In recent years, foreign students—especially from China—have shown growing interest in Kazakh culture. Based on a preliminary survey of the participants’ preferences, the program was developed to meet their interests and expectations.

Lecturers from the Department of Chinese Studies have prepared engaging and informative lectures tailored specifically for Chinese students. The Summer School will run until May 17, 2025.
