Nowruz is an ancient Eastern holiday symbolizing the arrival of spring and the renewal of nature.
This day marks the moment when day and night are equal, celebrated on March 21. For the Kazakh people, Nowruz is not only the beginning of the new year but also a symbol of prosperity, unity, peace, and virtue.
During Nowruz, people visit each other and treat their guests with various dishes. The traditional dish is nauryz kozhe (Nowruz soup). It is made from seven ingredients: water, meat, salt, butter, flour, wheat or rice, and ayran or milk. These seven flavors symbolize the seven elements of nature: earth, water, fire, air, sun, moon, and stars.
On March 21, a Kazakh yurt was set up in the park of the First President of Kazakhstan, and a festive table was laid for the celebration, with Kazakhstanis participating in the festivities.
