On April 22, 2025, an important international meeting took place at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (KazNU) rectorate. The Vice President of the University Board — First Vice-Rector, Mr. Erkin Ermanuly Duysenov, Dean of the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics, Mr. Nursultan Sagynaiuly Doszhan, and the Head of the Department of Mathematical and Computer Modeling, Mr. Zholaman Maktagaliuly Bektemesov, welcomed representatives from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), a prestigious institution ranked 47th globally in the QS rankings.
During the meeting, the parties comprehensively discussed mutually beneficial cooperation in the fields of science and education. They agreed to work together on joint scientific projects, enhance academic mobility, launch dual-degree programs, and promote experience exchange among faculty members and students.
This meeting aligns perfectly with one of the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) — SDG 17: "Partnerships for the Goals," which aims to foster multilateral cooperation and effective international collaboration for sustainable development on a global scale.
The established connection between KazNU and HKUST is a shining example of cross-border integration in education and science. This initiative will strengthen the international reputation of our university and pave the way for its active role in the global scientific and educational community.
