The future begins today: the “Zhas Zerde” team is among the best at the Republican Olympiad!

On April 25, 2025, the team of students from the educational program 6B04104 — World Economy proudly represented our university at the second stage of the Republican Student Subject Olympiad among students of higher education institutions of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The Olympiad was organized by the Department of Economics and International Business of Karaganda University named after Academician E.A. Buketov.

The “Zhas Zerde” team included Talgat Zhurabekov (team captain), Nurailym Kulamkadyr, and Nurgazin Ilyas Vladimirovich. The team presented the project “Combating Desertification: A Local Solution to the Global Climate Agenda,” proposing an ecological innovation — the ReWOOLution brand, aimed at soil restoration and combating desertification processes. The team's motto — Per aspera ad astra (Through hardships to the stars) — became a symbol of their commitment to high goals and overcoming challenges. The “Zhas Zerde” team won an honorable 2nd place. In the individual competition, Nurailym Kulamkadyr won 2nd place, and Ilyas Nurgazin took 3rd place.

The project was supervised by associate professors, Candidates of Economic Sciences, and lecturers of the “International Relations and World Economy” Department — Aida Yerimpasheva and Lyazipa Medukhanova. Financial support for the trip was provided by the lecturers of the World Economy educational program, who not only contributed financially but also made a significant contribution to the professional training of the students.

A special role in supporting the team was played by the students' curator, Gulmira Ilyasova, and the teammates’ fellow student, Trang Tran, whose involvement, assistance, and attention made an important contribution to the team's successful performance.

The achievements of the students, their mentors, and the support team reflect a high level of preparation and a strong commitment to professional growth. May there be even more new accomplishments, scientific victories, and inspiration on the path to development and success ahead.
