KazNU and PennState: Academic Partnership

Today, a meeting was held at the Higher School of Economics and Business of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University between the faculty leadership and representatives of one of the leading universities in the United States — PennState University.
Representing the faculty were Dean Galiya Dauliyeva, Vice Dean Zhanna Yermekova, Head of the Management Department Gulzhikhan Smagulova, Head of the Economics Department Saltanat Kondybaeva, and Deputy Head of the Economics Department Shynggys Nurgazy. During the meeting, the parties discussed potential cooperation in the following areas: academic mobility for students and faculty, joint supervision of PhD students, inviting PennState professors to deliver lectures at the faculty, and launching a dual-degree program.
The PennState University delegation included:
- Dr. Vlad Likholetov, PhD, MBA – Associate Director for Partnership Agreements and Eurasia Partnerships at the Pennsylvania State University.
- Dr. Phillip Jolly – Associate Professor in the School of Hospitality Management at The Pennsylvania State University;
- Dr. Joon Yoon – Associate Professor of Workforce Education and Development (WFED) in the Department of Learning and Performance Systems at the Pennsylvania State University;
The meeting was held in a warm and constructive atmosphere. Both parties expressed a strong commitment to developing future joint educational projects and strengthening their partnership.
