Curatorial Work Dedicated to the International Day of Families
On April 30, 2025, a curatorial meeting dedicated to the International Day of Families was held at the Faculty of Philosophy and Political Science of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.
The purpose of the meeting was to listen to opinions on education and research in the field of family psychology and upbringing, assess students’ level of knowledge in this area, and conduct explanatory work. Curators Sadykova N.M. and Ayazbayeva B. created an open discussion platform and provided students with comprehensive information about family values.
The family is the first and most important support in a person’s life, the warmest and most sacred place. It is the foundation of society, the source of morality and spiritual values. There is nothing more precious than family in a person’s life. This simple yet sacred concept — Family — is celebrated around the world every year on May 15.
In 1993, the United Nations General Assembly declared May 15 as the International Day of Families. This day was established to highlight the importance of families in society, to promote harmony and understanding in every household. The main idea of Family Day is to protect, honor, and promote this universal value.
For the Kazakh people, the family is a sacred value. The saying “The homeland begins with the family” carries a deep meaning. In our national upbringing, respect for parents, reverence for elders, and care for the younger generation are fundamental principles. A strong and united family reflects a noble nation. A harmonious and cohesive family is also the solid foundation of a strong state.
Today, preserving the institution of the family and raising the younger generation based on moral traditions is an especially relevant issue. As society develops, family values may face various challenges. Therefore, this day served as a special opportunity to strengthen the bond between parents and children, to show care, kindness, and love.
The students clearly demonstrated the importance of family values through their presentations and video clips. They conveyed wishes of happiness and prosperity to every family, emphasizing that the warmth of a family is the warmth of the entire world. The meeting concluded with words of gratitude from the students.
