28 may, 2025

Chairman of the Board – Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Zhanseit Tuimebayev, took part in an international conference on "Modern challenges and solutions in Turkic studies", where he made a presentation in online format.

The large-scale event was organized by Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies.

The plenary session was attended by heads of universities in Central Asian countries, experts, renowned scientists, Turkologists and professors.

The conference was opened by Gulchehra Rikhsieva, Rector of Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies, emphasizing the importance of this international forum. In her speech, she expressed gratitude to the distinguished guests who had specially come to discuss topical issues of Turkology.

In turn, Zhanseit Tuimebayev noted that in the context of global transformations and new modern challenges, research in the field of Turkology and Altaic studies is becoming particularly important.

"In the 21st century, Turkology and Altaic studies play a crucial role in understanding cultural, historical and ethnolinguistic ties between the peoples of Central Asia, Siberia and other regions. Research in these fields contributes to the preservation and documentation of the languages, traditions and monuments of Turkic writing, which are an important part of the world cultural heritage. The development of scientific fields such as Turkology and Altaic studies makes it possible to study the evolution of languages, their interrelationship and influence on each other, which is especially important in the context of globalization. In my monographic research and doctoral dissertation, I emphasized that Turkology and Altaic studies are interdisciplinary fields that study languages, culture and the history of peoples through the prism of linguistic changes caused by the Turkic-Mongolian interaction. Today, this area requires deeper study and joint efforts", - the rector emphasized.

The rector also noted in his speech that scientists from KazNU and Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies are conducting large-scale joint work in the field of Turkology and Altaic studies.

It should be noted that the Scientific Research Institute of Turkology and Altaic Studies is successfully operating on the basis of KazNU. Research on rare manuscripts and ancient books is actively conducted here.
