The legacy of Yassawi is analyzed

Today, the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University hosted an international seminar on the topic "The Turkic world, the spiritual mentor of Turkestan: the path and legacy of Yasawi"

The event was attended by Turkologists from higher educational institutions of Turkiye and KazNU, who exchanged views.

Opening the event, the head of the Office of the Rector of KazNU, Saken Waikhanuly, expressed gratitude to the foreign scientists who had specially arrived at the meeting and noted the relevance of studying the heritage of the Turkic world in our time. The Chief of Staff presented the guests with books published in the publishing house "Qazaq University".

In turn, the vice-rector of Haci Bayram Veli University in Ankara, Professor Orbai Metin, thanked the KazNU staff for the warm welcome. The scientist noted KazNU as the leading university in Central Asia and touched upon the issues of strengthening cooperation between the Turkic peoples. He highly appreciated the contribution of Kazakhstani scientists to the development of joint scientific and cultural projects.

During the meeting, professor Raushangul Avakova, Head of the Department of Turkology and Language Theory at KazNU, spoke about the role of medieval heritage in Turkic studies. She informed that the KazNU has a fund of rare manuscripts dating back to the Middle Ages, and invited them to jointly study these materials extensively. R. Avakova also mentioned that undergraduate and graduate studies have already begun in this area.

In addition, the seminar featured presentations on the following topics: "Ahmet Yasawi and his influence on Kazakhstan", "The role of K.A.Yasawi in nomadic culture", "Reading manuscripts and the significance of K.A. Yasawi's legacy", "Problems of preserving, reading and translating K.A. Yasawi's legacy".

The discussion on the topic of the Turkic heritage continued at the round table, where the issues of the past, present and future of Yasawi's research were discussed. At the end of the meeting, the guests visited the Scientific Research Institute of Turkology and Altaic Studies, where they got acquainted with the collection of rare manuscripts.
