Al-Farabi KazNU at the Eurasian Congress of Economic Geographers: Cooperation within the Framework of SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals
From May 31 to June 9, 2025, the Eurasian Congress of Economic Geographers is taking place in the cities of Osh and Bishkek (Kyrgyz Republic). The event is organized by Osh State University, I. Arabaev Kyrgyz State University, the Association of Russian Geographers-Social Scientists, and the Institute of Geography of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
Leading scholars and experts from more than 15 countries in the fields of human geography, sustainable development, geoeconomics, and ecology are participating in the Congress. The program includes plenary and sectional sessions, round tables, and presentations of international projects.
Al-Farabi Kazakh National University is represented by the Head of the UNESCO Chair for Sustainable Development, Candidate of Geographical Sciences, Associate Professor Tursynkul Amankeldievna Bazarbayeva. On June 2, at the plenary session held in Osh, she presented the results of a mega-grant project titled: “Assessment of Soil Pollution in Western Kazakhstan by Toxic Chemicals Due to Industrial Activity.” The presentation generated significant interest from the international community and received high praise from experts.
KazNU’s participation in the forum highlights the university’s active scientific and international engagement in promoting sustainable development goals and advancing the regional environmental agenda.
