The goal is to introduce innovative Biotechnologies
Education and innovation are the most valuable weapons of our time. A shortcut to mature high-tech. Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, which pays close attention to this, is looking for a new path to the development of university science. Today we will talk about the Kazakh-German-Chinese International Laboratory of Applied Microbiology.

LABORATORY CHRONICLES
According to the head of the laboratory, PhD, professor of the Department of Biotechnology Nuraly Shardarbekuly, the laboratory was founded almost thirty years ago. He has been conducting joint research work with German scientists since 1998. Over the years, dozens of scientific research papers have been published in Scopus/Web of science scientific databases and are highly regarded in scientific communities. At the same time, undergraduates, PhD students, PhD students and scholarship holders of such prestigious programs as "Bolashak" and DAAD of the laboratory and the Faculty of biology and biotechnology of Al-Farabi kaznu underwent scientific internships in the laboratories of the Aachen University of Applied Sciences. They make a dynamic contribution to the development of the country's science and contribute to the strengthening of cooperation between Germany and Kazakhstan in the field of Science and higher education.
As a primary and permanent colleague of the laboratory, professor Ilya Digel from the German University of Applied Sciences Aachen (FH Aachen, Campus Jülich) can be highlighted. Professor I. Digel supervises undergraduates and PhD students of the laboratory. Since 2018, this laboratory has been carrying out joint scientific work with scientists of the people's Republic of China. In particular, close contacts were established with Jian Zha (Jian Zha), associate professor of the Faculty of food and biological engineering of Shaanxi University of Science and technology (Xi'an, Shaanxi province). Having published articles in highly indexed journals in scientific databases Scopus/Web of Science, Associate Professor Jian Ja is the scientific supervisor for undergraduates and doctoral students of the laboratory. As a result of this connection, young scientists of the laboratory have the opportunity to conduct research work in the laboratories of the Faculty of food and biological engineering of Shaanxi University of Science and technology and undergo internships. He is also mastering modern methods and methodologies in the field of Molecular Biology. As an example, a young scientist of the laboratory B. Kamenov, thanks to the connection, received a scientific internship. All costs were borne by our Chinese colleagues.

GOAL
The laboratory is aimed at developing scientific research in the field of Biotechnology at the international level, introducing innovative biotechnologies and increasing the scientific potential of Kazakhstan. This center was created as a result of the joint work of scientists from Kazakhstan, Germany and China and pays special attention to the applied fields of microbiology – agriculture, ecology, medicine and industry.
IMPORTANCE
Scientific integration: exchange of advanced technologies and practices through collaboration between scientists from the three countries.
Food safety: develop solutions that increase productivity and environmental sustainability in agriculture as a result of microbiological research.
Environmental sustainability: development of technologies that do not harm the environment and consideration of ways to restore natural resources.
Health care: innovate in the field of biomedicine and research new drugs and treatments.
FUTURE
Transnational research: the laboratory aims to become an internationally recognized research center in the fields of microbiology and biotechnology.
Innovative startups: commercialization of biotechnological products and services based on the results obtained.
Training of scientific personnel: the laboratory will become a unique platform for young scientists from Kazakhstan and partner countries.
Global partnership: establishing links with international organizations to apply research results globally.
On November 20, 2024, in honor of the 90th anniversary of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, the Kazakh-German-Chinese International Laboratory of Applied Microbiology was opened at the Faculty of biology and biotechnology. The opening ceremony of the laboratory was attended by scientists from Germany, China and domestic countries.
The opening ceremony of the laboratory was attended by the heads of Al-Farabi kaznu, professor and director of the Institute of Applied Sciences Aachen University Ilya Digel, teachers and students of the Faculty of biology and biotechnology.
The positive results of the joint work of scientists from three countries led to the opening of this laboratory. The Kazakh-German-Chinese International Laboratory of Applied Microbiology has great scientific potential. In particular, doctor of biological sciences, professor Azhar Zhubanova, chief researcher, Professor Nuraly Akimbekov, Chief Researcher, PhD Kuanysh Talgatovich, Jian Zha associate professor of the School of food and biological engineering of Shaanxi University of Science and technology in Xi'an, professor and director of the Institute Ilya Digel of Aachen University of Applied Sciences played a key role in the opening of the laboratory, and a graduate of Al - Farabi kaznu was awarded the medal "Eren enbegi ushin".
NOTE
The laboratory aims to develop scientific research in the field of Biotechnology at the international level, introduce innovative biotechnologies and increase the scientific potential of Kazakhstan.
The laboratory was created and operates thanks to the support of the university leadership, the efforts of young scientists and the contribution of international partners. We are confident that in the future the success of this laboratory will make a great contribution to the development of domestic science. Because science beautifies the world.
