We are proud of our alumnus!

12 june, 2025

Every year more than 100 students graduate from IRF-International Relations Faculty become alumni of al-Farabi Kazakh National University. They work not only for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, but in many other different spheres in our country and abroad as well. I would like to point out that our graduates usually keep being in touch with professors and try to help providing our faculty with necessary equipment, establishing scholarships for our students.

There are also many IRF alumni from abroad, such as South Korea, Afghanistan, China... . It's remarkable that they still communicate with the professors of our faculty. Recently, our alumnus from China, Xudong Luo, donated printers, projectors and notebooks to the faculty. I'd like to say that he is the first foreign student who has decided to help his alma mater.

Xudong Luo is an alumnus of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (KazNU), where he completed a bachelor’s degree in International Relations in 2022. During his studies at KazNU, he actively engaged in academic initiatives, including his membership at the Centre for German Studies. His received the second prize in the Republican Competition for Scientific Research Work for Students (НИРС РК) in 2021.

After graduation, Xudong was admitted to several prestigious universities and pursued a Master of Research (MRes) degree in International Relations at the University of Glasgow in the United Kingdom, graduating in 2024. His research explores the integration of higher education between China and Kazakhstan, and he presented his findings at the Central Eurasian Studies Society (CESS) Annual Conference in Almaty in 2024. Xudong is also an active member of the CESS, contributing to scholarly discourse on Eurasian studies.

Professionally, Xudong has an experience as a translator for Kazakh and Chinese companies. In 2023, he established Shengshi Yicheng Study Abroad Consulting Co., Ltd., where he serves as director, focusing on strengthening educational partnerships between China and Central Asia. Currently, Xudong continues to promote education and cross-cultural exchange as a teacher and volunteer at the Glasgow Chinese School and the Confucius Institute. His academic and professional contributions reflect his commitment to advancing to International collaboration and fostering cultural understanding.
