Participation of KazNU’s Faculty of Physics and Technology in the Materials Today Conference 2025: Contribution to Sustainable Development and Scientific Advancement (SDG 4 and SDG 9)
Representatives of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University took part in the Materials Today Conference 2025, one of the world’s largest scientific platforms, organized by the renowned scientific publisher Elsevier.
Assoc. Prof. Gauhar K. Musabek, from the Department of Solid State Physics and New Materials Technology, delivered a scientific presentation titled "Thermal Fluorination of Nanoporous Activated Carbon Mediated by Freons". In her talk, she presented research results on the modification of carbon nanomaterials aimed at enhancing their functional properties such as thermal stability, adsorption, and catalytic performance. The study sparked strong interest among the international scientific community, paving the way for new professional contacts and potential collaborative projects with leading universities and research centers.
Dmitry Sokolov and Evgeny Korshikov, representatives from the Department of Thermophysics and Technical Physics, also took part in the conference. Their participation highlighted KazNU’s strong scientific potential in technical sciences and materials research.
KazNU’s involvement in the Materials Today Conference aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):
-
SDG 4 – Quality Education: by engaging faculty in international academic networks, sharing scientific innovations, and fostering collaboration with foreign experts;
-
SDG 9 – Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure: through the promotion of advanced scientific methods aimed at developing high-tech and sustainable solutions in materials science.
The Faculty of Physics and Technology at KazNU extends its gratitude to the conference participants for representing the university with distinction on the international stage and for their contribution to advancing science and global cooperation.
