The Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation got acquainted with the activities of the KazNU branch in Omsk

Mikhail Mishustin visited a branch of one of Kazakhstan's leading universities located in Omsk. KazNU became the first Kazakh university to open a branch in Russia.

 

The Kazakh side was represented by Sayasat Nurbek, Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and Zhanseit Tuimebayev, Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

On the Russian side, the event was attended by Valery Falkov, Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, Vitaly Khotsenko, Governor of the Omsk Region, Alexander Koltsov, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific and Technical Development of the Omsk Region, and Ivan Krott, Acting Rector of the OmSU named after F.M.Dostoevsky.

The guests got acquainted with the work of the admissions committee, visited the academic building and the scientific library of KazNU.

During the meeting, the rector of KazNU told the guests about the history of the establishment of the branch, and S.Nurbek familiarized with the activities of branches of Russian universities in Kazakhstan.

The official launch of the KazNU branch on the basis of Omsk State University took place on November 27, 2024 with the participation of two presidents.

The Prime Minister of the Russian Federation thanked for the active assistance of the Russian branches in Kazakhstan and in his speech emphasized the importance of opening a branch of Kazakhstan's leading university in Omsk, and also encouraged applicants to enroll in the KazNU branch.

Currently, as part of the admission campaign, the branch is recruiting students in three bachelor's degree areas: Faculty of Philology – Kazakh Language and Literature, Faculty of Law – Customs, Faculty of International Relations – International Law. It is planned to receive from 200 to 250 applicants.
