Summer School within the framework of cooperation between Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and Shenzhen University

On August 10, 2025, the Department of Health Policy and Organization of the Faculty of Medicine and Healthcare at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University successfully launched the international Summer School “Basic Medical and Pharmaceutical Science” for master’s and doctoral students of the School of Medicine at Shenzhen University (PRC).

The Summer School program runs from August 10 to 16 and brings together participants from various fields of study — Basic Medical Sciences, Pharmacy, and Biomedicine. The aim of the event is to expand academic cooperation, promote knowledge exchange, and develop the professional competencies of young researchers.

At the official opening ceremony, the participants were welcomed by Member of the Board — Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Doctor of Chemical Sciences, Professor Alina Galeyeva; Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Healthcare, Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor Sundetgali Kalmakhanov; and Head of the Department of Health Policy and Organization, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Gulnara Kapanova. In their speeches, they emphasized the importance of international educational programs for training highly qualified specialists and strengthening scientific ties between universities.

The week-long program includes lectures, practical sessions, scientific discussions, and a cultural agenda that allows participants to gain deeper insight into the history and culture of Kazakhstan.

The Summer School at KazNU is another step toward enhancing partnerships with leading foreign universities and creating favorable conditions for sharing experience in the field of medicine. The lecturers of the Summer School were leading scholars of the faculty and KazNU who had undertaken internships or studied at top universities around the world, including the USA, the UK, and others.
