Al-Farabi KazNU Hosts Summer School for Partner Universities from Japan and Korea

18 august, 2025

From August 5 to 25, 2025, the Faculty of Oriental Studies at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, through its Department of Far Eastern Studies and in collaboration with leading universities in Japan and the Republic of Korea, is holding a Summer School for international students.

The program brings together students from prestigious institutions such as Sungshin Women’s University, Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, Kyoto University, the University of Tokyo, Waseda University, Sophia University, and the University of Tsukuba.

The primary goal of the Summer School is to promote the culture and history of Kazakhstan at the international level through the study of the Kazakh and Russian languages, while strengthening cultural and academic ties among young people who are showing growing interest in the country.

Over the course of three weeks, participants will:

  • attend intensive classes in Kazakh and Russian;
  • take lectures on the history and culture of Kazakhstan;
  • engage in cultural and educational activities.

Under the guidance of university professors, students also take excursions to the Central State Museum, the picturesque Charyn Canyon, and the Tamgaly-Tas historical and archaeological complex, gaining firsthand experience of Kazakhstan’s rich cultural heritage.

According to the organizers, such international programs contribute to the development of cultural dialogue between Kazakhstan, Japan, and Korea, broaden academic cooperation, and foster both the professional and personal growth of students.

Al-Farabi KazNU intends to continue implementing joint projects with its partner universities, further strengthening international academic ties and expanding opportunities for collaboration.
