KazNU Professor Zubaida Shadkam Took Part in the Turkic World Summer School in Karabakh

From August 10 to 17, 2025, the International Summer School was held in cooperation with the Turkic Academy, the Turkish Academy of Sciences (TÜBA), the Ministry of Science and Education of Azerbaijan, and Karabakh University. The opening ceremony was attended by the President of the Turkic Academy, Professor Shahin Mustafayev, the President of TÜBA, Professor Muzaffer Şeker, and the Rector of Karabakh University, Associate Professor Shahin Bayramov, along with numerous scholars and young researchers.

The program brought together around 30 PhD candidates and postdoctoral researchers under the age of 35 from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Türkiye, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Iran, Mongolia, and North Macedonia. Among them was Aiaulym Ongar, a 2nd-year PhD student at the Faculty of Oriental Studies of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

The week-long program included lectures on the history of Turkic states, the archaeology of the Turkic World, cultural relations among Turkic countries, the history of art and thought, as well as Turkic languages and literature. In addition, the participants visited the cities of Khankendi and Shusha to explore the historical and cultural heritage of the region.

Al-Farabi Kazakh National University was also represented by Professor Zubaida Shadkam, Director of the Research Center for Written Monuments and Spiritual Heritage, who delivered a special lecture on “Features of Chagatai Medical Texts Written in Central Asia.” Her lecture provided valuable insights for young scholars into the study of Turkic written heritage and the historical development of Steppe medicine.
