The Ministers of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan got acquainted with the KazNU branch

Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan Sayasat Nurbek and Minister of Science, Higher Education and Innovation of the Kyrgyz Republic Baktiyar Orozov visited the branch in Bishkek Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

The meeting was attended by Member of the Board of KazNU – Vice Rector for Science and Innovation Margulan Ibraimov, Deputy Minister of Science, Higher Education and Innovation of the Kyrgyz Republic Nurlan Omurov, as well as Director of the KazNU branch Zhamin Sheyshenov.

The ministers got acquainted with the educational and scientific activities of the branch, visited the classrooms. Margulan Ibraimov, Vice Rector for Research and Innovation at KazNU, and Zhamin Sheyshenov, Director of the branch, presented a brief report on the establishment of the educational institution, current activities and development prospects.

The KazNU branch in Bishkek was opened on May 26, 2022. Its official opening was attended by President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov.

During the meeting, specific proposals from the ministers were announced and initiatives that could be implemented in the future were touched upon. In his speech, Minister Sayasat Nurbek noted that this branch is a real result of the strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. "Our joint efforts to increase the scientific potential and provide the youth of the two countries with high–quality education will lead to great achievements in the future", - the minister said.

To date, the branch implements 12 bachelor's and master's degree programs. Such areas as "Jurisprudence", "Management", "Computer Engineering" and "Foreign Philology" are in the greatest demand. Currently, about 750 students study at the branch, and more than 630 applicants are enrolled for the 2025-2026 academic year. Classes are held in Kazakh, Russian and English.

Today, KazNU's foreign branches are also successfully operating in Istanbul (Turkiye) and Omsk (Russia).

During the meeting, the parties discussed the expansion of cooperation in the field of education, academic exchange and the implementation of joint research projects.

Familiarization with the branch's activities has become an important step in strengthening educational ties between the two countries.
