BASF Mining Solutions laboratory opened in KazNU

The laboratory of the BASF Mining Solutions technical service was opened on the basis of the al-Farabi Kazakh National University. This is an extensive scientific project implemented as part of the development of the mining and metallurgical industry in Central Asia.
The event was attended by: Member of the Board, Vice–Rector for Academic Affairs of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Alina Galeeva, Head of the Mining Solutions Department, Rostislav Kamkin, Regional Business Director for EMEA and Central Asia, Miljana Spasic, as well as clients and partners of BASF in the mining and metallurgical industry of Central Asia and representatives of the business community.
The new laboratory is designed to conduct applied scientific research in the field of mineral processing and hydrometallurgy, as well as the development of innovative solutions that increase the efficiency of mining.
At the ceremony, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Alina Galeeva noted the opening of the new laboratory as a real manifestation of the strategic partnership between science and industry. "We are pleased to welcome BASF to our university's campus. This partnership brings science and business closer together, providing students and researchers with the opportunity to participate in practical and innovative projects. We are confident that students of the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology will be able to put their knowledge into practice and gain valuable experience working in this laboratory"- said the Vice–rector.
In his speech, CEO Rostislav Kamkin stated that the opening of the laboratory is an important part of the company's mission. "At BASF, we create chemicals for a sustainable future. The Mining Solutions direction aims to introduce innovative products and share their own technical expertise in the mining industry, working closely with both clients and the academic community. The opening of the laboratory in Kazakhstan is an important step towards strengthening cooperation with our partners and providing them with high–quality technical support. At the same time, this is our common contribution to the training of young professionals who will contribute to the development of the industry in the future. This is fully consistent with our mission in the field of sustainable development",- said the head of the company.
According to experts, the laboratory, based on BASF's global experience in the field of flotation and hydrometallurgy, allows mining companies to offer solutions aimed at extracting minerals, reducing costs and ensuring environmental safety. This platform for testing chemicals such as Lupromin, Luproset, Luprofroth, LIX, Alamine, Aliquat and LixTRA is equipped with modern equipment and fully complies with international standards.
Also, as part of this partnership between BASF Central Asia and KazNU, it is planned to organize production practices for students, conduct joint lecture courses, as well as the participation of scientists from the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology in research projects. This initiative will have a positive impact not only on the university, but also on the development of regional mining in general.
