The Constitution is the bulwark of the country's independence

29 august, 2025

Every year on 30 August, the people of Kazakhstan celebrate Constitution Day, the country's fundamental law. This day is one of the most important in the history of independent Kazakhstan, and the Constitution is the main guarantor of statehood, democracy, the rule of law, and the freedom and equality of its citizens.

The current Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan was adopted by nationwide referendum on 30 August 1995. This historic document determined the direction of the country's political, legal, and social development, becoming the foundation of the new independent state.

It enshrines the basic principles of the Republic of Kazakhstan's sovereignty and territorial integrity, its form of government, the separation of powers, and the rights and freedoms of its citizens. It also defines the state language. Additionally, the Constitution establishes mutual responsibility between the state and its citizens.

Today, the Constitution forms the basis of the country's legislative system and guarantees stability and harmony in society. It plays a key role in ensuring social justice and protecting human rights, as well as in building a democratic state.

Constitution Day is an important holiday that encourages all Kazakhstani people to embrace unity, responsibility, and patriotism. It is therefore important to understand that this day is a day to remember national values and civic responsibility.
