International Scientific and Practical Conference "Sustainable management of soil resources in the context of climate change"

On August 27–29, 2025, Almaty hosted the International Scientific and Practical Conference “Sustainable Management of Soil Resources under Climate Change”, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the U.U. Uspanov Kazakh Research Institute of Soil Science and Agrochemistry.

The conference brought together leading scientists, representatives of research institutes, universities, and government bodies. Discussions focused on the rational use of soil resources, innovations in land reclamation, soil ecology and biology, digital solutions in soil science, as well as carbon sequestration and sustainable agriculture.

On the second day, participants attended a field lecture at Medeu and Shymbulak, where they explored the soil diversity of the mountainous areas of Almaty.

On behalf of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, the following scientists took part: Head of the UNESCO Chair for Sustainable Development, Candidate of Geographical Sciences, Associate Professor Bazarbayeva T.A., Candidate of Biological Sciences, Associate Professor Shimshikov B.E. and Candidate of Biological Sciences, Associate Professor Mukanova G.A., as well as PhD student Alimuratkyzy A.
